The Sheffield College
Spread over four sites in the city, The Sheffield College provides further academic and vocational education, from entry level to foundation degree. The college is involved in all aspects of the MITP : JtD project and many students benefit from the opportunities of training and mentoring that the programme provides, earning an important qualification and using their role as a mentor to enhance their CVs.
The College offers full time courses in I Media, incorporating the DOT role as part of all students’ Work Experience’ programme. They have also developed the fully online e-communications degree for the MITP programme, offering students the opportunity to work or stay at home and gain a degree.
The college has also developed the Fast Forward learning materials – high quality adult literacy resources, freely available to all providers and learners participating in the DOTs scheme. Created as both hard copy and web pages, Fast Forward is designed to engage learners by incorporating local detail, with separate resources created for each of the Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster districts.
