Access Space
Access Space is the UK's longest running free, sustainable, open access media lab. They offer opportunities for volunteering and offer a range of drop in activities related to digital technologies, and the trainers in their open access team are currently DOTs.
Barnsley College
Barnsley College are responsible for the management of the Making IT Personal project. This builds on the college's experience in offering adults opportunities to learn new skills and train for new employment. The Fast Forward learning materials are also being used in their Skills For Life department.
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council
Barnsley Council leads the MITP:JtD project. Project Director, Martin Cantor, is Executive Officer to the Chief Executive of the Council. MITP:JtD is a key part of the South Yorkshire wide Making IT Personal digital inclusion programme. For more information on Barnsley’s digital outreach activity see: click here
Dearne Valley College
DVC is a vocational college which delivers community learning through six different venues across the boroughs of Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham. It's broad reach throughout South Yorkshire makes it an ideal partner to source DOTs.
Digital 20/20
Digital 20/20 is a regional partnership of global industry, local employers and public service providers with an action plan to drive forward IT-enabled economic development across Yorkshire and Humber. Sero Consulting, a specialist in IT and digital education and skills issues, manages Digital 20/20 on behalf of the partnership and leads the Digital 20/20 work in the MITP:JtD project. Sero has contributed to the design of the Digital Outreach Trainer (DOT) model, engages partners, supports the e-mentors and leads on dissemination, transnational, internal evaluation and sustainability work.
Doncaster College
The college specialises in ICT and boats a state of the art IT development. It also uses a mentor system to aid learners and has proven success in this approach. This combination makes many of the learners ideal candidates for the DOTs scheme.
e@SY Connects
e@sy connects is a South Yorkshire partnership of public bodies aiming to develop the digital and online delivery of their services. They larger create and improve access to information and services through, for example, TV, mobile phone, kiosks, gaming platforms and internet. Related to the DOTs project, e@SY Connects is undertaking close-to-market research with partners such as the Health Service, GPs, the community and the private sector.
Hochschule Furtwangen University
Hochschule Furtwangen in the Blackforest, Germany has been a partner in the project from the outset, as a member of the European Net-Trainers Association. The tele-akademie specialises in training e-learning tutors through online courses and launched Germany's first online course in 1996. A visit to Germany by the South Yorkshire project team in the early stages of the MITP:JtD enabled Hochschule Furtwangen to advise on plans for approving and accrediting digital mentors and helped shape the ‘DOT’ model. More recently, the University has put colleagues in touch with digital inclusion projects in Germany to help build new contacts and exchanges.
Jobcentre Plus
While MITP:JTDs provides additional employability skills for the workforce, the Jobcentre also create digital champions, who communicate skills and knowledge in a similar way to the DOTs.
Maltese Communications Authority
The MCA was established on the 1st January 2001 as the statutory body responsible for the regulation of the electronic communications sector (telecommunications, radio communications and broadcasting transmission), e-commerce and the postal sector.
NIACE
Founded in 1921, the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education is a UK charity dedicated to the promotion of adult learning opportunities. Working across all sectors, and with government and funding bodies, NIACE seek to increase the quality and amount of opportunities available. A key partner in the project, NIACE leads evaluation and recognised its achievements with an Inspiring Projects award at the 2011 Adult Learners' Week.
Northern College
The Northern College is dedicated to training adults without formal qualifications returning to education. The college promotes social change though residential and community based learning, and MITP:JTDs provides a basis for a wider range of participants.
Rotherham College of Arts and Technology
Situated over two campuses, the college provides further and higher education courses and apprenticeships with an emphasis on community education resources and with provisions for adult learners and the unemployed.
The Sheffield College
Spread over four sites in the city, The Sheffield College provides further academic and vocational education, from entry level to foundation degree. MITP:JTDs compliments the college's digital skills courses and provides opportunities for outreach work.
UK Online
A national initiative to promote digital inclusion, UK Online was set up by the government in 1999 to provide public access to digital technology.
